Search by TITLE:

Type in the entire title or a portion, such as blacks law dictionary, or blacks law, or blacks.

Search by AUTHOR:

You can search by author, artist, composer, gov't body, or by organization.

For example: brown, john q., or brown, j., or just brown for a person's name, or united states. Occupational & health administration, for a gov't body, or american bar association for an organization.

Search by SUBJECT:

Searching by subject allows you to find information about topics, personal names, and organizations.

Type in all or a portion of the subject, such as copyright and electronic data processing--philosophy, or copyright and electronic, or philosophy.

Search by KEYWORD:

Keyword searches will look for your words in various fields such as title, contents, notes, author, etc. You may use the Boolean operators; AND, OR, and AND NOT

For example: franklin pierce AND NOT law center

For example: Soviet AND Russian

For example: Soviet Union OR Russia

Proximity operators NEAR and WITHIN  (NEAR = Within 10 words of search terms)

For example: foreign NEAR regulation

For example: foreign WITHIN 3 regulation

Limit by FIELDS:

t: = within title field

a: = within author field

d: = within subject field

n:= within notes field

For example: t: commerce and a: doernberg and d: taxation

 

WILDCARDS:

? = 1 wildcard character

For example: wom?n ...would pick up woman and women

* = up to 5 wildcard characters

For example: inter* ...would match internal and internet, but NOT international

** = unlimited # of wildcard characters

For example: inter** ...would match internal, internet, international, etc.

For example: (adopt** OR reproduc**) AND (child** OR infant**)
