Google PRINT
Now you can search printed book content through Google. Google has been working with the University of Michigan, Harvard University, Stanford University, The New York Public Library, and Oxford University to scan all or portions of their collections and make those texts searchable. Why? Google wants "to organize the world's information." This is an entirely different project from Google Scholar.
I can hear people screaming reading this post, "What about copyright?" One way around copyright is to make only public domain books available, but Google Print includes lots of copyrighted books. The web site on Google print says, "Public domain books will look very similar to publisher-submitted books except you will be able to click through all the pages of the book. For library books still in copyright, you'll be able to find the book in your search result, but we will only display bibliographic information and a few short snippets of the book. All library books will have the Find this in a library link which allows you to find that book in a nearby library."
The beta print search page isn't linked as of this post, but try this search for books on legal research: http://print.google.com/print?ie=UTF-8&q=legal+research&btnG=Search
