ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

ATTORNEY MEMBER SERVICES

The Library at Franklin Pierce law Center offers privileges to attorneys and practicing paralegals in exchange for a modest fee.  Benefits of membership depend on the type of membership and may include borrowing privileges, interlibrary loan, document delivery service and use of our study rooms in addition to access to the law library.

Membership is available to law firms, practicing paralegals and alumni/ae. The membership year begins July 1st and closes June 30th of the following year. Rates are prorated throughout the year. The general public is limited to access to the Library's selective federal depository collection.

COMPUTERS for ATTORNEY MEMBER USE

Attorney members may use one of two dedicated workstations located across from the circulation desk on the main floor. Additionally there are dedicated online public access terminals for MELcat, the online card catalog, on each floor of the library. Printers are attached to all dedicated computers.

WESTLAW PRO ACCESS

Access to Westlaw Pro is available to attorney members via dedicated terminals on the second floor of the library.

STUDY ROOMS

As a member of the Library at Franklin Pierce Law Center, you have access to all of the study rooms not being used by current students.  Clients and non-members may not accompany attorney members into the study rooms. Keys must be checked out and are available at the circulation desk.

DOCUMENT DELIVERY

A document delivery service is available to subscribers of the attorney membership program. Every effort will be made to provide same day service for requests received by 12:00 noon. Requests received after noon will be processed on the next business day, except in extraordinary cases. There is a $15.00 fee for each document requested regardless of the length of the document or form of transmittal. Contact Barry Shanks for more information.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN

Attorney Members can request material that cannot be found in the Pierce Law Library collection and digital databases from other libraries via interlibrary loan. The Law Library offers an online request form to enable patrons to request material without coming to the library. The first step you must take before requesting material on interlibrary loan is to make sure the item is not a part of the Pierce Law Library collection.  You do this by thoroughly checking the online catalog, MELcat. Specific questions not covered by information found on this website should be directed to Barry Shanks.
