Franklin
Pierce Law Center Library has been a selective Federal depository
library since 1973 and is one of nine depository libraries in the
State of New Hampshire.
The
Law Library's collection comprises 11.83% of the available item numbers in the Federal depository library program.
It consists primarily of Congressional hearings, reports, prints
and debates; Federal agency administrative decisions; U.S. Supreme
Court decisions; the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR); the Federal
Register; and Presidential documents and papers.
In
addition, the collection also
includes publications of the Department of State including U.S.
Treaties, publications of the Internal Revenue Service, the Patent
and Trademark Office (PTO), the Copyright Office of the Library
of Congress, and the Department of Justice. General records from
the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Health and Human
Services, Homeland Security, State, and Treasury are received and
maintained.
Any individual
entering the library who states specifically a desire to see a federal
government document will be allowed access for that purpose. A member
of the library staff will assist the patron in locating the document.
The selective
collection of government documents at Pierce Law is geared primarily
to the needs of its patron base - the student of law, intellectual
property and the legal professional. If a document is not available
in this library, the library staff can direct the patron to other
depository libraries. For items dated earlier than 1900, a request,
with the necessary cataloging information, can be submitted to the
Library of Congress.
Pierce Law
students, faculty, staff, and library member attorneys may obtain
copies of documents which are not in the collection through interlibrary
loan.
A workstation,
available to all depository users, is available for online searching
of government documents.
