LIBRARY SECURITY
To
maintain the integrity of the collection, the Library has a secured
entrance. An alarm will sound when sensitized materials pass through
the gates. Whenever an alarm sounds, you are required to stop and return
to the circulation desk. Frequently, tapes or books from other libraries
or bookstores and electronic items trigger the alarm. A patron may pass
through the gate only after the reason for the activation of the alarm
is determined.
If
the desk assistant discovers non-circulating Pierce Law Library materials
or materials not checked out, a written report of the incident is made
and given to the library director for further action. Failure to stop
when the alarm sounds upon exiting is a violation of library policy
and a possible honor code violation.
WHAT
TO DO WHEN THE ALARM SOUNDS
Return
to the circulation desk. Remove your laptop, cell phone or other
electronic devices from your bags and
leave them at the circulation desk as you walk through again with all
other materials.
ALARMED
DOORS
Emergency
exit doors on the first and third floors are alarmed and are to be used
only in the event of an actual emergency. Students who
exit through one of
these
doors
without
a declared
emergency are in violation of the honor code. If you accidentally push
the door and trigger the alarm go to the circulation desk immediately.
